Swiss insurance companies do not report to any government - Swiss or foreign - if the policy holder is not resident in Switzerland. Thus neither the initial purchase of the policy, nor individual payments, nor interest or dividends earned, nor any other information will be reported, and all transactions are kept strictly confidential and private between the policy holder and the insurance company.

Swiss insurance companies have always taken good notice on the pressure exerted on Swiss banks and have adapted their guidelines in order to protect themselves against such “attacks”. The security and screening standards of insurance companies are extremely high. Swiss insurance companies will also have no problem with rejecting a client that they may find somehow suspicious.

Any information request from any government regarding a Swiss annuity, no matter which insurance company you have your policy with, will be forwarded to FINMA. FINMA will then decide if there is any solid reason to give out any information (e.g. a criminal offense). If there is not any plausible reason, FINMA, which is also subject to the Swiss privacy laws, will neither confirm nor deny if the person in question has a policy in Switzerland.

To summarize the information above:
The pressure against the Swiss banks is in fact a good sign of the strength of the Swiss financial system. If your money is legal and declared, and you are not involved in any criminal activity, there is no reason to be afraid – everything you are doing is absolutely legal.
